5 Laptops Donated to Non-profit that supports African Students

Viewing regular access to a personal computer as a non-essential luxury is a thing of the past. Even basic activities now require the use of a computer; applying for a job, completing schoolwork, staying in touch with family or even something as simple as looking up a bus route is difficult without a computer. The Electronic Recycling Association has developed a charitable computer donation program to address exactly that problem. One non-profit organization we recently helped with a donation of 5 laptops is Students Without Borders. They support Students in African countries with knowledge of hands-on technology, computer literacy, repairs and maintenance of computers, educating in leadership training etc.

In the world today, Nigeria is rated as the third most corrupt country in the world. One in every five youths is exposed to corrupt practices.  Most importantly the needs of the young people all over the country are still not being met. Youth unemployment and livelihood problem are particularly acute and growing in Nigeria because no one is paying attention to it. The resultant effect of this flaw on the part of the government and those in the places of authority is seen evident in the level of poverty which in turn breeds an environment that encourages social vices such as drug addiction, excessive smoking, alcoholism, and crime. Yet a large number of Nigerian youth simply wish to live responsible lives. They abhor corruption and other vices. The effort of this project will help to reduce corruption in the midst of Nigerian / African youths and also build them for future leaders. Students Without Borders has organized an Integrity & Moral Ethics Class which they believe will be embraced by young people and individual that knows the mayhem of corruption in our country by creating proper awareness among the Nigerian / African youths.
