Big Brothers of Greater Vancouver is Gifted with Laptops

By electronic recycling association May 20, 2022

In March, the Electronics Recycling Association (ERA) and New Westminster Police Department (NWPD) teamed up to offer an electronics recycling event at city hall as part of Fraud Prevention Month. In addition to providing a way to dispose of unwanted electronics, while also ensuring personal information was protected, it served as an opportunity to get the devices into the hands of folks in need of technology.

On May 19, 2022 the ERA was proud to partner up with NWPD once again to host a donation event where we donated 4 laptops to the Big Brothers of Greater Vancouver.  The devices will be used to help serve the children in the community.

Big Brothers is committed to the values of diversity and inclusion. They respect and welcome participation of all individuals. They believe that the diversity of our volunteers, families, and staff allows us to collectively strengthen our organization to intentionally support the communities we serve.

Diversity: the quality of being different or unique at the individual or group level. This includes age; ethnicity; gender; gender identity; language differences; nationality; parental status; physical, mental and developmental abilities; race; religion; sexual orientation; skin color; socio-economic status; work and behavioral styles; the perspectives of each individual shaped by their nation, experiences and culture—and more.

Inclusion: Diversity always exists in societies. Inclusion, on the other hand, must be created intentionally. They strive to create an environment where people feel supported and welcomed.

The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to reducing electronic waste through the reuse and recycling of unwanted computers, laptops and related electronic equipment.

  • Effective management of retiring electronic and IT equipment
  • Pickup services, donation services, buyback services
  • Data security measures, data wiping, hard drive shredding
  • Computer donation services, computer recycling
  • Depots in major Canadian cities and USA

Addressing data security represents a core element of the ERA’s value proposition and service offering. We possess robust data wiping and physical destruction capabilities, and have employed these capabilities in partnership with Canadian Law Enforcement agencies as part of our efforts to raise awareness of the dangers associated with inadequate diligence around personal computing devices. Studies have shown that fear of data being recovered from old equipment is one of the biggest obstacles of reuse. When you utilize the ERA’s data destruction services, you can be assured that your data will be secure from retrieval.

Call us at 1877-9EWASTE or book a pickup online. Your old devices could be used to help someone in need!
