The Electronic Recycling Association Partners with MLA Garry Begg to donate the gift of technology to a Surrey organization that establishes and nurtures co-operative enterprises with the youth.

Vancouver, BC (July 23rd, 2020) – The Electronic Recycling Association is excited to announce they will be donating to the Solid State Co-op and partnering with MLA Garry Begg to make this an extra special day. This organization will receive 12 laptops that they are providing to the youth participating in their program.

Dr. Matt Hern, Co-Director, Solid State Community Industries explained, “Solid State is very grateful to the Electronic Recycling Association for this donation. More and more, and especially now in times of Covid-19, it is essential that youth have quality laptops to work on. This donation is huge for us as many of our youth are lacking laptops of their own – and this will directly impact their educational possibilities and capacities. More than that, these laptops will be used by their siblings and families, as well as the larger Solid State community. From all of us, please accept our sincere gratitude! Much respect for all your work.”

“This is a terrific example of the Electronic Recycling Association’s ongoing commitment to reducing unnecessary electronic waste by donating much needed laptops to worthy causes. Solid State Community Industries is a group that works here in Surrey with youth from racialized migrant communities, to uplift and empower those who go on to make lasting, positive changes to our communities. I commend the ERA for their good work in helping Solid State to make this community and its people better,” said MLA Gary Begg.

Media is invited to attend.
