ERA Donates 4 Laptops to HomeSpace Society

By electronic recycling association August 6, 2020

HomeSpace Society previously received a printer from the ERA and we were thrilled to be able to fill the remainder of their request and provide them with 4 laptops. The computers will be used in a supervised common area with staff assistance, and be utilized by 25 clients within two housing programs that support clients with chronic and persistent mental illness, and who otherwise would not have access.

Speaking to their team they wanted to express their thanks by saying, “Thank you for your consideration to support clients in using computers with the goal of enhancing quality of life, build computer skills, to create things such as resumes and be able to apply for jobs, connect with resources and community programs, online courses for continuing education, etc.”

HomeSpace provides safe, appropriate and affordable housing for vulnerable Calgarians. HomeSpace is a charitable real estate developer, rental housing owner, and property manager. They own a portfolio of more than 550 units of housing in 27 properties throughout Calgary and they work with social service agencies who provide supports to the more than 700 residents in their buildings. They have a strong growth mandate to build more specialized, permanent, affordable housing to continually address the affordable housing crisis in our city.

Their vision would be a home for everyone in our community. Their mission is to creatively apply their expertise to increase and manage the number of affordable and specialized housing units.

Their values are as follows:

  • Dignity– They respect every person’s right to be treated with dignity and have access to a safe, appropriate and affordable home while acting with integrity to maintain trust from their partners and community.
  • Innovation– They find new and better ways of providing housing – and thereby, they fearlessly challenge the status quo.
  • Growth– They collaborate to grow housing options for the community.
