ERA Donates Laptop to CEED Concordia in Montreal

By electronic recycling association July 19, 2021

Charitable organizations are so thrilled with the devices they receive from The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) that they tend to reapply for additional donations when needed. We were pleased to help the CEED Concordia again with a laptop.  The CEED Concordia has a computer literacy project in Uganda and the donation will be used in the workshop and computer lab in Gulu.

CEED Concordia is a non-profit organization operating in Montreal, Canada and Gulu, Uganda. They are an organization dedicated to social justice, community empowerment, and positive change by supporting youth in their communities. CEED offers Concordia and Ugandan students an opportunity to contribute to sustainable community projects in northern Uganda for 3-month internships during the summer semester. They are working to shape better communities and future leaders for a better tomorrow.

Their program is supported by a fee-levy of Concordia University’s undergraduate students, a tangible expression of Concordia’s commitment to civic responsibility and experiential learning. They strive to create opportunities for students from Montreal and Uganda to gain firsthand experience in the international community development sector. Every year, approximately 25-30 youth from both communities become involved with their program through internships, academic initiatives, and various positions within the organization.

The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) is a non-profit organization founded in 2004 to address the growing problem of e-waste and the increasing ‘digital divide’. For over fifteen years, ERA has offered simple solutions to help individuals and organizations prevent operational equipment from premature destruction. With a focus on recovery, refurbishment, and reuse, ERA continuously supplies charitable groups with donated IT equipment while securely managing the retiring IT assets of organizations and individuals across Canada.

We believe that reuse before recycling is critical in managing the waste created by computer hardware, and by offering industry-leading data destruction for all equipment we receive, we have securely repurposed hundreds of tons of equipment. Because not everything ERA receives can be reasonably repurposed, we have partnered with certified recycling organizations to process equipment that has reached the end of its productive life.
