The Electronic Recycling Association is ecstatic to announce the donation of 10 laptops to the Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health.
The Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health is a public hospital providing a range of specialized assessment and treatment services to those living with serious and complex mental illness. Serving individuals in the province of Ontario for over 100 years, patients at Ontario Shores undergo safe treatments and evidence-based approaches where successful outcomes are achieved using the best clinical practices and latest advances. They promote an environment of care that is built on compassion, inspiration, and hope. Not only does Ontario Shores treat patients at their 6 locations across Ontario, they also educate healthcare practitioners and train the next generation of health care specialists. While Ontario Shores is primarily located on the shores of Lake Ontario in Whitby, they also serve patients in Peterborough, Newmarket, and Lindsay.
Laptops donated to the Ontario Shores Centre will be given to patients that cannot afford to purchase their own laptop.
Having a properly functioning device with Internet access opens the door to an endless amount of resources to support those living with mental illness found online. While a laptop isn’t a replacement to the renowned treatment options Ontario Shores provides, it will greatly benefit the mental wellbeing and connectedness patients will experience going forward.
The Electronic Recycling Association donates refurbished technology and IT devices to a number of different organizations across Canada, varying from non-profits, charities, schools, and care centers. The ERA is proud to support the communities we operate in and work towards creating a future where technology isn’t a barrier to any individual. The ERA believes that providing laptops to the less fortunate enables unimaginable outcomes and advances in the digital era.
