McLeod Lake Indian Band (MLIB) is a rural community north of Prince George. They are part of the Tse’khene group of Aboriginal people that also includes bands at Fort Ware (Kwadacha) and Ingenika (Tseh Kay Dene). Their nearest community is Mackenzie BC which is 46 km away. McLeod Lake Band Membership totals to about 515 members (as defined under the Indian Act) with approximately 100 members living in McLeod Lake, 200 members living in Mackenzie, Chetwynd and Prince George, and the rest throughout North America.

The Tse’Khene Nation (People of the Rocks) are proud people. They believe the Creator put them here as stewards of the land. They will regain their traditions to cultivate a respected, united, self-sufficient community. They recognize all people as equal regardless of name and ancestry. Their governing body is elected based upon integrity, honour, accountability, and transparency to all members. Together they will provide healthy, educated, self-sufficient and prosperous lifestyles for future generations.

The MLIB community has a computer lab of four computers and all the computers are outdated and make it difficult to host in-house training such as computer training, online computer courses, etc. “McLeod Lake Indian Bands Education Department received the six laptops and one printer today. They are great and will be accepted into our new computer lab we are working on right now for the kids and community members. Thank you again for the donation!” exclaimed Workforce Promoter Rachael Ewert. The Electronic Recycling Association is proud to donate these items to expand their computer lab.

The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) is a non-profit organization founded in 2004 to address the growing problem of e-waste and the increasing ‘digital divide’. For over fifteen years, ERA has offered simple solutions to help individuals and organizations prevent operational equipment from premature destruction. With a focus on recovery, refurbishment, and reuse, ERA continuously supplies charitable groups with donated IT equipment while securely managing the retiring IT assets of organizations and individuals across Canada. We believe that reuse before recycling is critical in managing the waste created by computer hardware, and by offering industry-leading data destruction for all equipment we receive, we have securely repurposed hundreds of tons of equipment. Because not everything ERA receives can be reasonably repurposed, we have partnered with certified recycling organizations to process equipment that has reached the end of its productive life.
