The Salvation Army is an international Christian organization that began its work in Canada in 1882 and has grown to become one of the largest non-governmental direct providers of social services in the country. Ministry units in their Division offer programs and services tailored to their area, city, or community to best meet the needs of vulnerable or marginalized people. This can include food banks, school nutrition programs, life-skills classes such as ESL or anger management, Christmas assistance, after-school programs, and more.
