Supporting fellow Non-Profits who Support the Burnaby Community

By electronic recycling association September 12, 2018

The Burnaby Neighbourhood House (BYNH) is a Charitable Non-Profit Organization. A Volunteer Driven community-funded agency with a unique focus on Neighbours supporting Neighbours. Community building is a common theme of Neighbourhood Houses where neighbours help neighbours. Volunteers, therefore, are an integral part of our Neighbourhood House!

The Burnaby Neighbourhood House is:

  • A place where families and individuals can come to get support and services;
  • A place where new immigrants become connected and can find information and resources that will help them settle into their new community;
  • Where seniors and youth can gather; and where all these groups can come together in activities and events that aim to link generations and cultures to create a stronger community.

We were thrilled to donate 4 laptops to this incredible Non-Profit. This donation will assist with the following programs and services that they provide to their most vulnerable residents in the community:

  1. ESL classes – These low-cost classes ($20 for 10 weeks), takes places two times a week and are taught by volunteer facilitators.
  2. Computer Cafe – These free sessions are available to anyone who would like to learn how to use email, create files and documents, use excel, use the internet, practice typing and writing skills on the computer.

Speaking with Jennifer Ng, Resource Development Supervisor at the BYNH she expressed, “Thank you again! We are so appreciative of your support!”
