Surrey’s MLA Harry Bains and ERA Work together to donate technology to an Organization in need
The Electronic Recycling Association and MLA Harry Bains donate 30 Laptops and 10 Computers to the DIVERSEcity Community Resources Society in British Columbia
Surrey, BC – April 10th, 2019 – The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) is excited to announce they will be donating to the Surrey area alongside MLA Harry Bains to donate 30 laptops and 10 computers to the DIVERSEcity Community Resources Society. They are a registered charity devoted to helping newcomers to Surrey, Delta, Langley and White Rock. For 40 years they have focused on providing specialized services for newcomers, most of which are free of charge. They offer assistance such as free transit tickets and child-minding services, as well as subsidies of various kinds.
“Donating to organizations that help better the community is one of ERA’s key objectives. Organizations like DIVERSEcity contribute a lot to our society so it only makes sense to return the favour. Having MLA Harry Bains work with us on this initiative is just great to see. We truly thank him for taking time out of his busy schedule.” Said Bojan Paduh, Founder and President of the ERA.
This donation will be used for Employment and Skills Training program at the organization. They offer several programs to assist immigrant job seekers to learn about the Canadian labour market, explore educational and training opportunities and prepare them to enter/re-enter the Canadian workforce. All programs are specially designed for immigrants facing multiple barriers to employment such as English language, foreign credentials, lack of Canadian work experience and cultural differences and settlement issues.
Speaking with MLA Harry Bains he states, “DIVERSEcityserves thousands of people south of the Fraser each year. I can’t think of a more deserving organization to receive these computers, and this donation will make a huge difference for newcomers to our region.”
“DIVERSEcity is grateful for the generous donation of technology assets by the Electronic Recycling Association. This donation will support DIVERSEcity’s delivery of English Language training/settlement programs by ensuring that our classrooms will be outfitted with learning tools such as laptops, desktops and tablets which will make settlement services more readily accessible by enabling us to provide online/blended learning to increase our reach to clients.
